What the service covers

A modern registry with specialist support.

The San Marino Maritime Navigation Authority and San Marino Ship Register provide registration routes for private and commercial yachts. The registry uses digital processes and separates small-yacht and large-yacht technical frameworks at the 24-metre load-line threshold.

Our €200 complete application serviceDocument review, application preparation, submission, liaison with the San Marino registry, certificate coordination and support during the registration process.

Resident agent for foreign owners

A foreign owner must maintain a local resident agent as the San Marino contact. We arrange the appointment through a local San Marino law firm. The agent is required even when the registration itself is described as lifetime.

Private and commercial pathways

San Marino supports both, but commercial operation is not simply a label on a private certificate. Safety-code compliance, surveys, certification, manning and operating-area rules must be assessed for the vessel’s actual use.

Technical framework

Length and use change the compliance pathway.

Yachts under 24 metres

The Small Yacht Safety Code covers motor and sailing yachts below 24 metres load-line length, including monohulls and multihulls. It addresses both commercial yachts and, as far as practicable and reasonable, private yachts.

Commercial use

Commercial yachts must follow the applicable safety-code, survey and certification pathway. Passenger limits, cargo restrictions, manning and the intended operating area require specific review.

Provisional and permanent documents

The two-day target refers to provisional registration for complete, eligible applications. Permanent registration and associated technical or radio documents follow their applicable requirements and timelines.

San Marino registration questions

Clear answers about the packages.

What does the headline price include?

It is the complete first-period total for a foreign owner: the selected registration package, our €200 application service and the first €100 resident-agent period.

Does lifetime registration eliminate every future charge?

No. The registration package may be lifetime, but a foreign owner must continue to maintain a resident agent. The agent service is €100 annually or €400 for five years.

What happens at exactly 10 metres?

A vessel measuring exactly 10.00 metres enters the 10–24m price band. The smaller band covers vessels below 10.00 metres.

Is exactly 24 metres included?

For the offered package pricing, the upper band runs from 10.00 metres through exactly 24.00 metres. Technical code applicability uses load-line definitions and must still be checked for the individual yacht.

Is a survey required?

The answer depends on use, technical status and the permanent-registration pathway. Private-yacht applications may use a simplified assessment in appropriate cases, while commercial and other profiles require additional survey and certification review.

Is MMSI included?

The offered 10–24m packages include MMSI service. For smaller vessels, radio requirements and optional services are reviewed from the installed equipment and intended navigation.
