Direct answer

Is Dutch Kadaster the right registration?

Kadaster registration, known in Dutch as teboekstelling, records the vessel and ownership in the Dutch public registers. It is not the same product as the former ICP document.

The vessel is identified through measurement and official marking requirements. Because the record can support title and mortgage transactions, ownership evidence is examined more closely than for a light cruising document.

Good fit

Owners seeking a durable European ownership record or a register capable of supporting a marine mortgage.

Look elsewhere when

You only need a low-cost cruising document or cannot provide a clear ownership chain and vessel identification.

Customer-facing prices

Registration service packages.

We show the service price offered to the customer. Your written review identifies any vessel-specific work before you proceed.

The quoted package covers the standard service. Unusual measurement, microdot, translation, notarisation, mortgage or ownership-chain work is confirmed separately before proceeding.

Who can apply

Owner and vessel eligibility.

  • Individuals and companies can be assessed, including owners outside the Netherlands.
  • The boat must be identifiable and the ownership chain must support the applicant's claim.
  • The vessel's construction, location and availability for measurement or marking can affect the route.

Private and commercial use

Registration can suit private yachts and ownership structures requiring a durable record.

Commercial or charter use requires a separate assessment of safety, operating and crewing rules.

An ownership registration does not replace local cruising licences, customs evidence or a radio licence.

Common questions

Dutch Kadaster registration FAQs.

Is Kadaster registration the same as an ICP?

No. Kadaster teboekstelling is an official public registration; the ICP was a different and lighter documentation product.

Is it available to foreign owners?

Many international ownership profiles can be assessed, but the owner and vessel documents must be reviewed first.

Can a mortgage be recorded?

A registered vessel can support mortgage registration, subject to the transaction and legal documentation.

Does it expire?

The ownership record does not use the same routine renewal cycle as many flag certificates, but changes must still be recorded.

Does it prove VAT status?

No. Registration and VAT or customs evidence are separate.
